V.Rev. Canon Donal O’ Mahony PP Charleville and Rev. Pat Corkery CC, welcomed the Sacred Heart Statue Blessed by Pope Francis, to Holy Cross Church Charleville, for a weekend of Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
In this “Year of Hope” – Jubilee 2025, and on the 350th Anniversary of the institution of Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Pope Francis Blessed four Sacred Heart statues in Rome on January 8, one for each Province in Ireland. One of these statues is currently displayed for veneration at Cloyne Diocese and was at the Holy Cross Parish Charleville, last weekend
The Blessed Sacred Heart Statue was available for Veneration and Prayer at all Masses and ceremonies at Holy Cross Church Charleville and was welcomed into the parish by Rev. Canon Donal O’ Mahony PP, at the Friday morning Mass at 10am
It was a prayer-filled weekend with the Sacred Statue visiting Charleville parish, with various events arranged by members of the Parish Pastoral Council to mark the special occasion. There were opportunities for private prayer and veneration before and after all Masses and Holy Hours of Eucharistic Adoration and Vespers for the first Sunday of Lent
The Statue visited various Charitable Organizations and Prayer groups, and the Local Nursing Homes to the sick and elderly of the community, many of whom have a love of devotion to the Sacred Heart through their attendance at Mass, especially on the First Friday of each month, over many years
The Sacred Heart Statue was warmly welcomed by all, with a great sense of love, joy, and affection and reverence! Pope Francis was remembered in prayer, and many of those who are ill felt closely united with him in their sufferings, by the visit of the Statue at a time when he himself is ill. Many prayers were offered for Pope Francis and people continue to pray for our Holy Father
Parishioners and visitors from other parishes were welcomed at a ‘tea and coffee morning’, which has become a regular meet-and-greet event hosted by members of the Charleville Parish Pastoral Council assisted by other members of the faith community. This event is held on the second Sunday of each month after 10am Mass in the parish office. The Monthly prayer meeting in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was held at the Parish Office on Sunday afternoon
