Archbishop Martin to offer Mass of Atonement, on 7th March, for the National Day of Prayer for Survivors and Victims of Abuse

The Annual Day of Prayer for Survivors and Victims of Abuse will fall on March 7th, the first Friday of Lent and the first Friday of the month – a day dedicated to making reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus for our sins and the sins of others. This day of prayer was established by the Holy Father, Pope Francis, and the Bishops of Ireland, to be implemented particularly in Irish dioceses to make reparation for the sins of abuse

This coming Friday, is a day that reminds us of our need for atonement and repentance. In the Armagh Cathedral, at 7am, Archbishop Eamon Martin will offer a Mass for atonement, for healing, and to renew our commitment to protect the dignity of every person. The faithful are urged to unite their hearts in a spirit of repentance and hope, trusting in God’s mercy and the power of prayer to bring healing and justice and, if possible, to attend Mass for this purpose
